讀過一戰之歷史,英法德各國,死亡以5百萬人以上計算,或說英國菁英大傷,埋下衰落種子 (Peter Drucker) ,實在很難"狂歡購物":香港的大學單位,深知此理.....但,也只能淡然處之。



【胡適日記】只是摘要,許多感人的故事沒記。
譬如說,1926年 11月11日,他借劍橋大學基督學院的院長辦公室寫講稿 (演講卻是在ART Schhol)。
當天是第一次世界大戰終戰紀念日,The Cenotaph。 胡適在辦公室看到白髮老油漆工,在梯子中間停下來,虔誠而莊嚴地禱告一分鐘,相當感動。
British Museum
On #RemembranceDay, here is a red poppy made by Mary Delany in 1776. The Museum will observe the 2-minute silence at 11.00.
The poppy is used as a symbol of remembrance as it grew prominently in Flanders, where many died during the First World War.
