Aug.2: 郭雨新;Wallace Stevens

Wallace Stevens was an American Modernist poet. He was born in Reading, Pennsylvania, educated at Harvard and then New York Law School, and he spent most of his life working as an executive for an insurance company in Hartford, Connecticut. Wikipedia
Perhaps the truth depends on a walk around the lake.
Death is the mother of Beauty; hence from her, alone, shall come fulfillment to our dreams and our desires.
Everything is complicated; if that were not so, life and poetry and everything else would be a bore.

As an aging insurance man, Wallace Stevens rose to Vice-President of the firm. As a poet, he found time to write—and punch Ernest Hemingway—on drunken solo vacations to Florida.

How an introverted insurance executive in a three-piece suit created some of the most radiant poetry of the twentieth century.
