The best ideas come as jokes. Make your thinking as funny as possible.
In the modern world of business, it is useless to be a creative, original thinker unless you can also sell what you create.
A good advertisement is one which sells the product without drawing attention to itself.

“If each of us hires people who are smaller than we are, we shall become a company of dwarfs. But if each of us hires people who are bigger than we are, we shall become a company of giants.”

The world breaks everyone, and afterward, some are strong at the broken places.
Happiness in intelligent people is the rarest thing I know.

Owen Wister dies in Rhode Island. He graduated from Harvard in 1882, and found the subject matter for a literary career when ill health caused his doctor to advise him to follow the example of his classmate Theodore Roosevelt and go West. Out of summer trips to Wyoming ranches came the material for Red Men and White, stories of the Western cattle country; Lin McLean, another collection but more unified; The Jimmyjohn Boss, a final collection of stories; and the extremely popular novel The Virginian, about Wyoming cowpunchers during the 1870s and '80s, which established many of the patterns of fiction about the West and created a native mythology.
