Today marks 500 years since Martin Luther is said to have nailed his 95 Theses to a church door in Wittenberg, Germany, sparking the Protestant Reformation in Europe. Luther spread his new interpretation of Christianity with pamphlets, and used the relatively new invention of printing to circulate his message through Europe. His texts were illustrated with captivating images, and were written in the vernacular German rather than Latin.
