天聲人語 耶路撒冷與威脅 January 7, 2018 位於約旦河西岸的巴勒斯坦自治區雷馬拉(Ramallah)近郊。巴勒斯坦的年輕人們在此進行大規模的抗議活動,除了燃燒輪胎等,也與以色列治安當局發生衝突=攝於2017年12月7日(渡邊丘)   這是發生在2009年、村上春樹獲頒以色列文學獎「耶路撒冷獎」時的事情。據了解,當時有許多人勸阻他「別出席頒獎典禮」。以色列軍隊的攻擊日益加劇,許多巴勒斯坦人民為此喪失性命。若領取這個獎項,恐怕相當於認同以色列的軍事活動。   即便如此,村上還是遠赴參加,並在演講中批評以色列。他在演講中提到:「假設有高聳的牆壁,以及擲牆破碎的雞蛋,我永遠會站在雞蛋那方。」顯而易見,所謂的雞蛋,指的是遭武力摧毀、燒毀的人民;而牆壁指的則是以色列軍方。   以色列於1948年宣布建國以來,有70萬名巴勒斯坦人逃離家鄉成了難民。而背離悲劇的一方,選擇站在堅固高牆那方的,便是川普總統的態度。   川普總統將猶太教及伊斯蘭教的聖地耶路撒冷,承認為以色列首都。甚至威脅表示,將可能對在聯合國決議中譴責此舉的國家中止援助。即使是商業貿易也過於無情。別說是為了調停中東和平,不如說是在攪局。   外界始終認為,美國的強項不僅是軍事及經濟上的力量,還有文化及價值觀等軟實力。提倡此論點的政治學者約瑟夫·奈爾指出:「並非動用威脅或金錢力量,而是自然拉攏對方,獲得所追求的事物之能力。」這番議論成立之時的光景令人懷念。   隨著外界對川普的抗議,迄今已有10名巴勒斯坦人死亡。若非總統的輕舉妄動及妄言,這些人命將不會殞落。   原文刊載於2017年12月24日 William Makepeace Thackeray  died in London, England on this day in 1863 (aged 52).
